BEHIND THE LENS

Creativity has always been a constant in my life. Even in my earliest childhood memories, I can remember coloring, painting, or trying to “creating” something out of nothing. Art was always my favorite class, and I enjoyed expressing myself in any medium I was given but I always felt I fell short of recreating the vision I saw in my head. Then about 12 years ago I purchased my first SLR camera and eagerly went out and shot my first roll of film. I remember picking up the pictures from my local drugstore and there before me was my vision. While not all of those images from that first roll were memorable, there were a few that captured my “vision” perfectly! I had finally found a medium that allowed me to capture the beauty that I saw all around me and a way for me to share it with the world. Finally others could see things they way I had always intended for them to. Through research and conversations with others in the field, I made the move to a DSLR. It wasn’t long before I was sucked into the ditigal world and realized that my work could be taken to a completely new level simply by enhancing the images I already had with Adobe software. It inspired me to go back to school and earn a degree in something that truly made me happy, and something that I truly enjoy doing. None of my work ever starts out with the same vision. Whether it is a photograph or a digitally created image, each piece is treated as an individual work of art. Just as I am continually transforming as an artist, so is my art. I would like to think I bring a fresh perspective and a new “vision” to all of my work and I hope that others are inspired by my images as much as I am. I never shy away from criticism as it is what pushes me to always see and view the world with a new, and sometimes fresh, perspective. I believe it sets me apart from others in the field of both photography and digital design. And although there may be times other won’t share, understand, or value my creative vision and mindset, it only makes me strive to do an even better job at expressing and conveying what I see in my mind and what I feel in my soul.
